Week of 6/21/10 at HG

Hot week at the shop this week. With temps in the mid-90s, I saw plenty of A/C systems. Wish I had A/C out in the shop. Quite a shock when I leave the office and go back out into it.

Ben Thomas brought me a bag full of fresh green beans and another of cucumbers on Friday when he picked up his car. Beth used some of both for dinner the past couple of nights. Nothing like fresh from the garden. Even better when you don't have to grow them yourself!

Found a 10 mm deep socket in the #2 cylinder of an LS1 Suburban engine I opened up. The strangest part, though is that the socket hadn't caused any problems. The problem was on #5. Obviously I'm not the first one to open up this engine. There's a mechanic out there somewhere wondering where his 10mm went.

Finished metal work on the Vega and put a small block 350 in it. Still a track car. Might end up making it a street car and selling it. (Note from Beth: He'll probably put a half dozen other motors in it first.)

Did some more blocking on the Chevelle. Beth decided on paint scheme a couple weeks ago, so now I've got to do the hard part.

Finally fixed Beth's passenger side inner door handle. She's only been trying to get me to do it for about 6 months now. Fixed a brake light while I was at it. One of these days I'll remember that Mercedes needs to go through and re-learn everything once reset.

Ran the Fun Fourth Freedom Run 10k yesterday. Apparently Beth got me to agree to it one Monday night after I had a couple drinks. I had run 15 miles in the past YEAR before yesterday. Didn't do as well as I wanted, but beat the hell out of Beth and still came in under an hour. Legs are sore today. Might have to get back into running on a regular basis. (Note 2 from Beth: That was my master plan...)

That's about it. Hopefully a busy week coming up. Monday is full.
